Titled “Luksi Nanih Waiya” this three-dimensional beaded medallion features Luksi (turtle), with a raised peyote stitched shell stuffed to symbolize Nanih Waiya, the sacred Choctaw mound of origin. The work reflects endurance, protection, and the enduring connection between the Choctaw people, their stories, and the land.
Edged in stone colored rondelle beads & backed in white leather with a 15” seed bead necklace mixed with long glass ivory beads.
The turtle measures 4.5” from head to feet & is 4” wide.
